Gorilla Ambassadors

Gorilla Ambassadors was started several years ago by a group of boosters who desired to have an organization associated with Pitt State Athletics similar to the KC Chiefs Redcoats. The group's goal is to support Pitt State Athletics both financially and in other ways. There is certainly a desire that the Ambassador program continue to exist (and grow) and be a component of the Pitt State Athletic Fund; while helping to enhance the annual success of fundraising for athletics, event attendance, and support of various other activities like the Football Letterman's golf event.

However, unlike the other components of the Pitt State Athletic Fund, funds raised through the Ambassadors would not be spent at the sole discretion of the athletics director and coaches, as input would be received from the Ambassador membership. At this time, all funds realized through the Ambassador program are used to satisfy the pledge the organization made toward the construction of the Jungletron. Once that obligation is met, the Ambassador membership would provide input on the use of Ambassador funds on projects and initiatives they choose to support.

While the University is keenly aware and appreciative that most all contributors to Gorilla Ambassadors help the athletics department in many, many ways; we hope they will continue to provide the $250 annual gift to be a part of this exclusive group and there is also hope this group can grow in membership. The future plan is to have the Ambassador membership annually elect a small advisory board. This board would meet twice each year to discuss expenditures of Ambassador funds, as well as provide input on other issues within the athletics program to the PSU President and Athletics Director.

There are no tangible benefits connected to this program other than receipt of a unique Gorilla Ambassador wristwatch with your initial gift. The benefits of membership in addition to that is to simply support the overall athletics program in a very unique and exclusive manner.
